Baby & Kids

Kids’ trends come from two directions: parents sharing gear that genuinely helps, and kids themselves spreading playground crazes.

What early signals look like here

These are the public sources we check first for baby & kids. One signal alone is noise; several lining up over a few weeks is worth a write-up.

Signal / sourceWhat we look for
Parent creators & hacksTikTok and Instagram “parent hack” and “things I wish I’d bought sooner” videos featuring the same item.
Parenting communitiesPublic Reddit parenting threads and forums recommending a product repeatedly.
Registry & Best SellersItems climbing Amazon Baby Best Sellers or appearing on many public registry guides.
Playground crazesTeachers and parents mentioning a toy or trading item that is suddenly everywhere at school.
Kids’ media crossoversCharacters from a new show or channel showing up on merchandise and searches.
Google TrendsBreakouts for a product or character name plus “for kids” or “age”.

Watch out: Child safety matters more than trends. Check age ratings, safety standards and recall notices (e.g. the U.S. CPSC) before buying.

The general method is explained in How we spot trends.
